Jen Montoya, CPA

Director

“My job is to explain opportunities as well as risk, and help our clients implement tax strategies that work for their business.”

Jennifer Montoya, a manager with Lanigan Ryan, has more than eight years of experience working with closely-held businesses and high net worth individuals. She specializes in a range of taxation services, including individual, partnership, corporate, and multi-state matters. Before joining Lanigan Ryan, Jennifer worked as a tax manager in a large regional public accounting firm’s construction and real estate industry group.

Jennifer helps clients by strategizing and planning for tax matters while keeping in mind the client’s business goals. When consulting on a tax matter, her approach is to gain a deep understanding of all relevant facts of the client’s business and their industry and then provide recommendations and strategies based on a thorough understanding of complex tax law and regulations. During the past year, she was able to help clients weather the pandemic by informing them about relief incentives, including the Paycheck Protection Program, Economic Retention Credit, and Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

“I am the technical resource for the firm, so my approach is always to be technical — to provide a well-researched basis for our recommendations to a client’s concern.”

Outside the office, she and her family enjoy hiking and visiting national parks. Her bucket list hike is Half Dome at Yosemite National Park.
